| They announced Judas Priest and Dream Theater as the first 2 bands to be playing at it. Could be worth a look again as it was a great festival this summer. |

Dear Friends of High Voltage,
Following the exciting announcement that heavy metal legends Judas Priest will play their farewell festival performance as High Voltage headliners and metal heroes Dream Theater will be closing the weekend with their only 2011 UK festival performance, we are delighted to announced that joining them on the main stage is none other than heavy rock supergroup Black Country Communion. Featuring Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) on vocals and bass, Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin) on drums, Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater) on keyboards, and Joe Bonamassa (the blues-rock solo star) on guitar and vocals, the band released its debut album in 2010 to widespread critical acclaim and will not be performing at any other UK festival this year.
They will be joined on the main stage by Michael Schenker Group led by the guitar hero who made his name in the 1970s with two iconic bands Britains UFO and Germanys Scorpions.
Were also thrilled to reveal that the legendary Jethro Tull - led by charismatic singer and flute player Ian Anderson and guitarist Martin Barre - are set to headline the Prog Stage; this is a UK exclusive, Tulls only UK show of 2011.
Following a lengthy hiatus two cult prog bands have reformed to join us on the Prog Stage, Spocks Beard will perform another UK festival exclusive and British heroes Caravan add to the occasion alongside Mostly Autumn, Pallas and The Enid.
Jethro Tull, caravan, Spocks Beard, Dream Theater, BCC, Priest...
This sounds mighty tasty |

I'm hoping they'll announce some more bands soon and that there'll be some Metal Bands included.....
Priest, DT, BCC, MSG, Tull and Caravan should be enough for me already though........besides I really liked the chilled out weekend last year.... |

........today's announcement
Queensryche (Main Stage)
Thunder (Main Stage)
Anathema (Prog Stage)
Neal Morse (Prog Stage)
Saint Jude (Main Stage)
Curved Air (Prog Stage)
I'm happy enough with Queensryche and Anathema and will sit through a Thunder set, Neal Morse I don't really know his solo stuff, but I'm sure it doesn't stray too much from other material - the others I don't know at all.....but still looking good with Metal Stage to be announced sometime before the Fest i hope |

| Saint Jude I have not heard of at all but they seem to be well liked by Classic Rock Magazine and supposedly Ronnie Wood thinks a lot of them. Curved Air should be class. Not too sure who is in the lineup these days other than Sonja Kirsten but she was a belter in her day. I doubt Stuart Copeland is still with them! Could be a re-union with Neil Morse and Spocks Beard? Anathema are always pretty class. Saw what was supposed to be Thunder's last show when they played Sonisphere and they were pretty damn good. Bit of a quick re-union mind you |

will check out Curved Air now......
yeah Lofty I reckon the Spocks Beard with Morse thing is now a goer, so he'll be busy......looks like Portnoy is part of his band too, he's been working on a new album - would be sweet to see Portnoy again, class drummer...
apparently - well according to Thunder themselves, this is very much a one off show....they are continuing with their other projects - so could be a cool show..... |

| For those of you who went last year, what's the cheapest means of travel and accomodation? Cheers! |

Hey Shando,
mightn't be much help, didn't do it as cheap as possible, but I will probably plan it a little better this time around - go onto the Messageboards on the High Voltage site (not great, but there is info there for people travelling with regards to where you can stay close to the Park etc....and travel routes)...
I flew into Heathrow last year on the Sat morning, and got the Tube to where we were staying (we just bunked in with a couple of mates that had a hotel booked in Kensington) dropped our gear and back out onto the Tube to the gig - I'll pull out the info when I get a min and PM you, but I know I could have gotten cheaper flights with Ryanair, but Heathrow having the Tube station made it so handy and quick to get into central London I just thought it was a good idea........was grand getting the Tube back into London after the headliners, busy as you'd expect but no hassle......
I know a fair few people were staying in Hostels around the place, some very close to the Park..........if I find cheaper ways in the next few weeks I'll let you know.... |

I've found a hostel that's only 5 miles from the festival site, and it's only £15 for the night!

Great news that I'd be able to get the tube back after the headliners, I was afraid the tube would stop before then.
I went to Sonisphere last year and went through heathrow too due to less hassle. Return flight from Belfast to Heathrow is £85, which isn't too bad considering how cheap the accomodation is! |
