What does everyone make of this? Haven't seen much chat around. I've had it playing a bit now.

Play 1 - hated it
Play 2 - warmed
Play 3 - it's ok.

Hope it gets a bit better. It might, but I'm not sure.

I think it suffers in the same way that any band that has a big catalogue of very similar sounding music does - it's fine and safe, but whatever.

Personally I found myself going back to Shadows of the Sun much more, seems more consistent.

SotS certainly seems more emotional.

The tracks don't really seem to go anywhere and the overall sound of the album is very artificial and compressed. Not impressed at all unfortunately.

Haven't heard the recording but was present when they played the whole album live in London earlier this year. That's an hour of my life I won't get back - dreadfully self-important, song-free lift music. Suffice to say, it hasn't encouraged me to pick up the record. A shame, they had some lovely looking DLPs on sale as well!

Doesn't sound too promising...was looking forward to checking this out. Hopefully you're all wrong.

Someone ate all the Walnut Whirls and Garm threw a wobbler. I can relate to that, in fairness.

It hasn't really stuck with me at all after numerous spins.

I only have perdition city, which I like. What album should I tackle next? Not really interested in their early black metal stuff...

@Owen: Get 'Blood Inside'. It's my favourite of their back catalogue.

Themes from William Blakes marriage of heaven and hell is my favourite by a mile. Amazing album. After that Shadows of the Sun and Perdition City are the best to my ears. Brilliant releases.

They're all great really, except for their latest which is just boring. You won't go wrong with what Hellvomit recommended. Also, their EPs and soundtrack work are excellent too.

I'm just not sure what they're trying to do on this new one. The up tempo first song just sounds a bit out of place, while the rest of it... there's just no songs there?

Blood Inside is not great imo, or most peoples. William Blakes Marriage of Heaven and Hell would be my favourite, Shadow on the Sun, and the two Silence EPs I'd go for after Perdition City.
