<  MI Users Confront The Wider World  ~  Geocaching

Has anyone given this Geocaching lark a go?

Basically, you need a sat nav (ideally a handheld GPS) and to enjoy walking about the place looking for hidden things..

I started doing it a few months back to give myself a reason to drive to random places that I had never been before and then get out and walk around. It has taken me to some truly amazing places I didn't even know existed, in many cases only a few miles from my door.

Now that I've got into the swing of it I've been doing them further afield including 8 or 10 in Turkey this week. It helps if you have an interest in either the history or natural side of things in the area you are operating in as more often than not the location of the cache will be either an area of historical significance or natural beauty.

It's cheap, easy to do and if you like the outdoors a lot of fun. Sure what more could you ask for in these wintery economic climes?

You wouldn't want to be doing that in the Wicklow mountains...no idea how many bodies you might unearth! haha

yes, been doing that since about 1.5 years now. not a power-cacher at all though. doing it on and off, usually take one of the kids with me. its indeed great to be introduced to some amazing places that I otherwise would never know of. even within dublin city centre. placed a few ones in dublin myself. it's pretty popular in germany these days. I found some insanely well crafted caches there.
