Voivod blew everyone away again as anticipated with their two sets. Second set:

Dimension Hatross
Die Kreuzen cover (with the Die Kreuzen singer)
Jack Luminous
Astronomy Domine

Other highlights were Sleep, Nachtmystium, Black Breath and OM.

Another fantastic Roadburn.

Next year curated by Electric Wizard with Godflesh doing PURE! I'll be back again for the 7th year in a row.

And Chemical Ally is the most mangled gentleman I've ever met in my life! The new Roadburners had a fair stab at upping the ante this year.

Yet another blinder festival, great bands, great sound, great (and fairly unique) sets.

Laid back, easy going, just people that like metal, no troooooo types, no sceensters.....

great to see voivod twice, great to see them dandering around the bars, good to see tom g warrior out checking the bands out and getting photos with the lads in the street.....

Om, Sleep, Voivod (x2), wounded kings, conan, black cobra, doom, yob (x2), dragged into sunlight, bongripper(x1), celestial season all delivered - top notch!

sleeps 2 hr set...... totally caved my head in!
black cobra - supprise act of the weekend - pure bludgeon
The obsessed.... i guess ill just never get what the fuss is about that band.

pre-burn, metal discos, afterburner and after-after burner with the usual suspects........
roll on 2013

Great weekend again, just such a killer vibe around the place. So many greats sets too, namely GNOD, OM, Hexvessel,Virus, Sigiriya and Sleep.

I couldn't see this band as they clashed with Voivod, but I hear they were good. Former Acrimony members. Some Irish gigs would be nice.

Yup all ex-Acrimony I think. Check this track out, pure rock action. Would be great to see them over here.

the sounded great..... but they do insist on playing in near total darkness, so you dont get to see much other than when the odd random blast of strobelight lights up the stage

Amazin fest once again...

just to get it out of the way, yes we all wish it wasnt so crowded all the fucking time but if you can stick it out you can always see a good portion of any band you want.

Sleep was just phenomenal, Obsessed were pretty class too (no forever midnight though Sad ). Only got see a snippet of Voivod on the thursday but i think after about 6 years of trying to get into them it finally clicked with me.

Om was a big disspointment though, that drummer is just so fucking annoying. New songs sound even more faffy than the side B of God Is Good.

ugh too wrecked to do a full run-down...

Had a blast at this.

Sleep are now the best band I have ever seen. That performance was just too good. Some more of my favorites were Purson, Lord Vicar, Dopethrone, Om, Yob, The Obsessed and Orchid.
Think I'll type a bit more about each set tomorrow but there is just to much internet right now.

You know it's a good festival when you are brushing shoulders with the likes of Wino, Lee Dorrian, Tom G. and Voivod.

So

d.USK - Was pretty amazed. Great frontman and was my first experience of how good the sound is at Roadburn.
Agalloch - One of my favourite bands and enjoyed the set but I felt so sorry for them because of the problem with the distortion pedal.
OM - What an experience. Watched from the balcony after a joint and it was so good.
Lord Vicar - Really good. The band seemed completely into it and they looked like they were partying just as much as the audience.
Orchid - Again, perfect. Enjoyed the two new songs.
Voivod - Cool. Really energetic and played good songs.

Wino & Conny Ochs - Perfect for that time of the day. Really good
Nachtmystium - really good musicianship and heavy as shit.
Witch - Heard the were pants live but I wasn't disappointed.
Yob - So so good. Especially the song off Atma. Sparked up again for this.
Dopethrone - So many riffs. Literally could not stop headbanging. Great vocals too.
DOOM - Madness. Wsa up the front for the whole thing. Just intense.

40 Watt Sun - Great thing for first band of the day. He has an excellent voice.
Church of Misery - So loud and so groovy, class. Some issues with the bass guitar.
Purson - Really like this band at the minute. Played such a good set but again, some issues with Rosie's guitar.
Leaf Hound - Heard they were shit live, but again, turned out to be class. Love that album
The Obsessed - So good. Played so many songs but Wino did seem a little under rehearsed which is strange. He has been on the rod for a couple of months as well.
Sleep - Best set I have ever seen hands down. Two hours long. Played some of my favourite songs and it seemed like they were constantly changing things up. So good.
Heavy Jam - Was fucked by this stage and can't really remember much apart form lying down up at the balcony. Sounded literally like a heavy jam.

Internal Void - The only real disappointment of the weekend. Front man was really weird and they just weren't playing well.
Bongripper - So so heavy. Love that album and they done it justice live.
Yob - Another killer set from them. Seriously one of the best doom bands in the game.
Coroner - Sounded tight. Had to leave after a few songs as I just couldn't hack it anymore.

Still in bad shape. Like everyone else has said Sleep were just amazing. Voivod and Yob aswell. Sundays Yob set moreso. My brain is in serious meltdown.

What a festival, easily the best sound and lighting I have ever witnessed.

Highlights included Sleep, OM, Dopethrone, Yob, Church of Misery (even with the bass issues), Doom, Lord Vicar, Bongripper and Orchid. Was also so cool getting our picture taken with Tom G and meeting Church of Misery.

Although literally every set I seen ranged from great to mind blowingly awesome.

As said before it gets pretty crowded outside of the main stage and the beer is pretty disgusting but basically everything about this festival is just so much better than anything else I have ever been to and probably anything I ever will be at.

Those who write this off as a hipster fest need their head examined, great crowd, great chilled vibe, great sound, great performances and a great town. Safe to say I'll be back next year.
