Fuck yeah!

It’s finally official: RUNNING WILD are back! To the delight of his countless fans, Captain Rock'n'Rolf has announced the release of the new album, "Shadowmaker", seven years after RUNNING WILDs last studio album, "Rogues En Vogue". "My comments in spring 2009 about the demise of RUNNING WILD were absolutely serious at the time. I really needed time out and, to be honest, couldn't imagine even in January 2011 that I would ever feel like recording a new album again.", says Rolf. "But when I had the inspiration for a best-of album, to which I wanted to contribute four new numbers, I rediscovered how much I enjoy composing. From then on it was only a small step to record a full new studio album."

Rock'n'Rolf has written ten new tracks for "Shadowmaker", among them are the midtempo opener "Piece Of The Action", the uptempo number "Shadowmaker" (roughly the same pace as "Angel Of Mercy") and the monumental eight-minute track "Dracula", based on Bram Stoker's novel and the Christopher Lee movies. "To me, "Shadowmaker" is a very special album because there was no pressure, timewise or otherwise. I feel it's clearly audible that this relaxed attitude helped me to write one of the strongest RUNNING WILD recordings of all time."

Rock'n'Rolf recaps his thoughts about the new album, the past and the future in a video message for the fans:

"Shadowmaker" will be released worldwide on Steamhammer/SPV in April 2012, a cooperation which the RUNNING WILD captain refers to as "a real stroke of luck and ideal partnership". Rock'n'Rolf: "SPV/Steamhammer are a long-established label with an experienced team, so I know that RUNNING WILD are in good hands. Besides, my band and the record company are based in the same german city (Hannover), which can't be a disadvantage for a smooth cooperation."

Olly Hahn, A&R at Steamhammer/SPV, is equally delighted: "That a style-defining act such as RUNNING WILD signed with us comes close to an accolade. Band leader Rock'n'Rolf is one of the metal scene's last originals, and we at SPV are unbelievably proud that his choice fell on us."

As much as love Running Wild can bands just say they're taking a fucking break instead of saying they're splitting up?? Ridiculous crap. Last RW album I rate is 'Masquerade' from 1996 so hopefully his 'break' will have copped him on a bit and get him using proper musicians in the studio again.

In other words, Running Wild song number one and Running Wild song number two. The same two songs that have made up each and every Running Wild album of the last 20 odd years.

Seriously? It's been 2 years for frig sake. Like Darragh says, that's just a break, not a break up.

Sucks for all the poor sods who forked out for wacken for their 'last ever gig'. Seriously bad on their part. It wouldn't even be so bad if they didn't suck donkey balls these days. "Rogues en Vogue" was tripe, aside from the bonus track(?) 'Libertalia', one of their best ever. More of that please.

Well it was kinda inevitable really wasn't it?
The last good album was Rivalry actually, the one after Masquerade
Guess the money dried up and no one was interested in his rock n roll band

Last couple of albums are poor but it would help if he let the rest of the band play on them, the drum programming is just lifeless and dull

Break ups, reunions and farewell tours? I'm sick of this soap opera nonsense! I hope he had a good shit and cleared his head. Very much enjoyed Black Hand Inn earlier in the week. Nearly ten years since I saw the band play. Better not be a flop.
