What an unbelievable weekend, glad to say that after waiting to see Sabbath for so long it wasn't a dissapointment. Absolute top form from all the guys, Clufeto is a top notch drummer but not really sure his style was perfect for Sabbath, needless to say that was only a small negative. Easily put every other band to shame.
Slash, Nofx, Fozzy, Emmure, Feed The Rhino and Black Label Society were the other big highlights for me. Spent a good bit of time at the Redbull jam stage in the downtime checking out the new bands, some great stuff especially Golden Tanks.

Metallica are completely just going through the motions at this stage though, Hetfield is the only one who still has it. They should really just take a break from playing for a while and maybe regain some of their passion. I think Hammetts guitar playing is regressing too. How he could still be regarded as one of the worlds best is beyond me.

The arena's delayed opening on the Friday was a bit of a joke, only we were listenin to the radio back at camp it would have been a pain waiting in that queue, how they weren't prepared for the rain even though they knew the forecast is beyone me! As terrible as the rain was it really didnt take away from the fest at all, not sure how they could have made more provsions for the rain at the camp site? I remember it being worst the first time I ever went to oxegen.
Totally incredible, will be hard to top that next year

Had an excellent time at this. This was my first time at download and after turning up to the camp-site at 11pm on the Thursday I wanted to turn straight around and go home, trekking through the thick mud with little light to the back of the orange site was horrendous. That feeling wasn't there the next morning though and although they seemed to be unprepared for the mud, they seemed to have compacted it to stable ground (mostly) in the camp-site for the Saturday and Sunday.

Bands of note were slash and opeth on the Friday, both excellent. Was at the main-stage for most of Saturday and Sunday. Tenacious D were great and contrary to what most seem to be thinking here I thought metallica played an excellent show, I thought they were tight and the whole stage show was possibly the best I've seen it. Only gripe would be that on previous gigs they've played shortest straw early in the set which I'd love to see, instead they played four horsemen.
Soundgarden was one of the bands on my bucket list and I'm so happy to have seen them play a fantastic set. Also enjoyed lamb of god and megadeth. Black Sabbath were incredible, the guitar and bass tone sounded epic, enjoyed Clufetos drumming.

Savage weekend...Mud was cuntish but was grand when pished.

Friday - Fear Factory were Heavy! Nice way to start it off. Would have liked seeing the Machine Head from a few years back (Or better yet, 1994!) play but couldn't enjoy them...All new songs that I have no time for and no old stuff. Rob is a trendy fucker and I can't enjoy them live anymore. Soil were fucking unreal in the Pepsi Max stage. Opeth sounded good from the back and so did Nightwish, seemed like a cool pyro show from them too. Slash was savage stuff, best all weekend I thought.

Saturday - Saxon were great, good fun. Got a couple pints and went to Black Veil Brides, awful fucking shite...Sound like a band trying to cling onto the Avenged Sevenfold fans. Good craic anyway watching people throw stuff at them. Trivium after that, very good, great band live. Steel Panther were a good laugh. Tenacious D, wasn't arsed. Corey Taylor was enjoyable. Sylosis were unreal and Metallica were boring (I love Metallica, just didn't do it for me).

Sunday - Kyuss were unreal, nice and heavy/bluesy. Anthrax, good but same shite...Hopefully I don't get sick of them. Was gonna do the Belfast/Dublin dates but might be best skipping them, seeing them too much and sets ain't changing. Edguy sounded class, wish I saw more them, unreal stuff. Shadows Fall were great too, loved it. Wanted to catch a song or 2 from Black Label Society but only caught a 10minute solo...Awful shite. Sebastian Bach was fucking unreal though, wish I was seeing him tonight! Lamb of God were great, Megadeth were unreal, Firewind sounded cool and Soundgarden were good too. Black Sabbath were just fucking amazing...Pished outta me tree. Heavy as fuck, couldn't help but bang the head like a horse, loved the tone.

Thats my weekend Laughing Enjoyed most of the bands! Won't be camping again.

Mud was shite, but being pished really did help you forget about it.

On the Friday missed Fear Factory due to them telling us the bands were an hour behind then making up the time, pretty pissed off at that. Machine Head were meh and I actually like most of the stuff from the blackening onward. Slash was awesome, really blew me away.

Saturday was a great day, thought Trivium were incredible, Steel Panther were good craic although I'm convinved they had backing tracks for some songs?? Tenacious D, gd laugh again, Sylosis incredible (best band about at the min IMO), Josh seemed well pissed off with the sound on stage though. Got bored of Metallica half way through the black album.

Sunday, missed Devildriver due to extreme drunk/hungoverness. Though Anthrax were excellent much better than Sonisphere were I thought they were pish. BLS bored the life out of me, Zakk we know you're a fairly talented guitarist, there is definitely no need for a fucking 18 minute guitar solo. LOG and Megadeth I seen them both but literally cannot remember a thing about them again due to extreme drunkeness. Soundgarden, not really my thing.

Thought Sabbath were fantastic, really on form. Thought that Bill not being there would spoil things a little but I didn't really get that impression.

All in all a fucking great weekend, still suffering for it now though.

I only did the Sunday and im still a mess. Anyhow thought it was a good day and the bands i saw(Kyuss,Anthrax, Ugly Kid Joe, Soundgarden,Sabbath) i enjoyed bar Megadeth. It did remind me why i just can't be fucked with massive fests like this though.

The issue with the mud wasn't just in the arena. They did nothing to deal with it in the backstage either. At one point I watched the guys from Nightwish and Opeth trudge through inches deep mud to get into the catering area for their dinner. Quite incredible for a festival of it's size that they took so long to react to conditions that were no surprise to anyone (apart from them, it seems).

Apart from Corey Taylor crying again, the most gayest thing throughout the weekend had to go to Mr. Hetfield during Enter Sandman.

They definitely played well though, I thought Hetfield in particular doing the Black album sounded great but I couldn't enjoy them, just getting bored of their shows, was dying for it to end, didn't wait for One or Seek & Destroy either...Only enjoyed The Four horsemen and Battery out of the entire set which sounded unreal!

I left from about a minute into it iswel Laughing Laughing Awful cringeworthy, goes on for ages too. However, by the time I met my mates for leaving they kicked into Battery which was very, very good! But left then straight after as it was just One and Seek & Destroy again so missed nothing really.

Remember the good old days when Hetfield was a raging alcoholic and called everybody a cunt...
