Also I don't think SAS charge for checked-in luggage, which would be handy for anyone planning to camp.

I may be wrong but I think Arlanda has a train connection too which is dead handy.

It does, so you could theoretically just train it all the way to the festival area from the airport.

As opposed to Skavsta which is a typical Ryanair entity out in the middle of bleedin' nowhere.

I think it was Arlanda I flew into when I went to Stockholm round 2001/2. Remember it being a relatively quick train journey into Stockholm city centre.

Skavsta and Västerås on the other hand.....

Looks like Skavsta airport isn't too far from the site. In and out of Skavsta Baz is it?

Skavsta is the airport I flew into this year but it's a good 350km from the festival. I ended up going from Skavsta -> Stockholm -> Sandviken to stay with Felipe and Mia for a few days before. We drove from there to the festival and it took us the guts of 8 hours or so. I have no idea what route I'll take next year. Might try and do the same as this year and travel with the Sandviken posse, or maybe fly into Gothenburg (which is closer) via Stansted.

Just take Dublin-Helsinki-Dublin -flights and take the Helsinki-Muskelrock-Helsinki -bus I told you about. =)

Very Happy I completely forgot about that option! Is the bus still being planned?

Yes it is. =) We don't have the ferry prices for May/June (for bus trips) yet, but we will know them and the price of the trip soon. I'll let you know. I think it will be too expensive for you compared with flying straight to Sweden from Ireland, but let's see.

Thomas, let me know the details when you have them anyway! Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit extra for a lot more fun.

^Yes I will Barry.

Manilla Road in Muskelrock with a very high probability. This is from their website:

"We are in the process of confirming dates in Finland and Sweden right now and we will also be making a trip back to the south of Europe to do shows in Greece and Italy among others."

And I heard from elsewhere that the planned Swedish show would be Muskelrock.

Keep an eye on some of the other airlines as opposed to Ryanair. SAS flights can be alright sometimes and they fly Dublin to Arlanda which is only a hour to Tyrolen. Its almost 3 hours to there from Vasteras.

I may be wrong but I think Arlanda has a train connection too which is dead handy.

Flew with SAS to swedenrock in 2009 and it was competitive in terms of price.
