I'm temporarily pausing the function of the board this evening to help with the long awaited upgrade to PHPBB3.0 - which will mean no more forum crashes!
Bear with me - hopefully by tomorrow we'll have a new, slick board upgrade.

OK, so it's a few hours later and the upgrade has been a success. I have a new version of the forum almost ready to go. All topics, posts, users, passwords, etc have been preserved and seamlessly ported over.
All I have to do now is style it up in the manner to which we're accustomed.
The board should work hassle free from now on!
I reckon the styling will take a day or two. We're nearly there |

Right, after a quick examination of the styling issues, it seems the new forum structure is a fair bit different from this one. It'll take a while for me to make it look identical.
Which, I presume, is what you want - right? |

| I don't know about anyone else, but I've been having a problem with logging in the last couple of days. I'd go to log in and it would tell me my password was wrong (which it definitely wasn't), so then I got a new password sent anyway, and the forum refused to accept it, even though it was copy-pasted from the email. This happened a couple of times with each new password I got sent. It appears to be fine now, just thought I should mention it in case others were experiencing anything similar. |

You'll need to run an anti-spyware program. Your computer's infected. |

| Yes, the new forum wont be operational for a day or two - so this one will still be buggy. |

Works fine for me. Got to page 15 instead of 16 Paddy and it should be fine.
I reckon a new look would be good CT. |

Any forums you all find particularly good looking / functional?
Let me know and I'll co-opt good ideas. |

Still seeing the sides of some forums cut off due to oversized pictures(Man Vs. Food thread for example). Now Im not anyway educated in how the forums works or if my suggestion would work with this board but I've seen other forums, namely sevenstring.org, have a system in place that will automatically reduce the size of picturs to fit the thread, therefore not fucking up the format! Is it possible ot get something like that for here?
Also a style change wouldn't be a bad idea, brighten the place up like!
EDIT: Just seen that the upgrade will take a couple of days to kick in. Will the upgrade stop the pictures fucking op threads issue? |

Hopefully.
The issue with the pic resizing is usually Java, I think. When PHPBB sees an image that conflicts with the widths of the forum containers, as far as I know it calls a little applet to resize it. Unfortunately between older browsers, cookie settings, permissions etc, it doesnt always kick in, which may be what's happening in your case.
With any luck though the new PHPBB3 will have a different/better system to deal with this.
At a minimum it has reconstructed the entire database of posts and topics, so there should be no more arsing around and downtime. |

| Sweet. I do believe alot of the picture sizing issue can be down to the browser being used. Unfortunately I have to use IE most of the time and cant change any settings in it. But yeah hopefully the upgrade will solve that issue! |
