Ahrigh biy! Had a notion it might be yourself

Had the same problem with my JCM, had me baffled. Turns out it only ever happens when the band next door are practicing simultaneously.

Our ex guitarist (a sparky by trade) reasoned it as a poor electricity supply or overload having given it the once over. Its never happened outside of the above circumstances, which leads me to believe he must be correct. In fact the only other time it occurred was due to a faulty plug board at a gig. I've also had the amp serviced since with no problems.

It may be a different problem though, mine crackles in a sort of heartbeat rhythm, sometimes more dramatically than I'm comfortable with, but it never cuts through when I'm playing.

Might be worth a service regardless if you're using it a bit, if there is a problem it should show up.

I have Valvekings myself, had exactly the same problem. Its the control on the back of the head that promises to run the amp either as a 50w or 100w,what it actually does is run one of the power amp tubes harder than the other and knocks the bias way off.I got the control bypassed and the tubes rebiased..no more problem. Its a fairly common complaint, but i love the tone of the valvekings.5150 next tho....
