fantastic amp mate! A whole load of oomph in a lil box. I found it sounded at its best through a 2x12 but lost abit of bottom end in a 4x12, is this cause of the power rating not enough to move speakers?

Glad to hear this and delighted that you have found it to be something you can use. Regarding the bottom end, I had played it through my cab which was an Orange PPC412 and couldn't say I really noticed, but I didn't have a 2x12 to compare at the time, what cab are you using? Sorry I can't be of more help on this point.

For true gain and tone, low wattage tube amps, turned up but not maxed out.

LittleDaveSoundEngineer made a valid and good point on your other thread, as regards tone and usability low wattage tube amps that can be driven hard are the way to go, there was definitely a buzz for years that the bigger your amps wattage was the more serious you were to be taken as a guitar player, absolute bollox, so many guitar players out there playing amps they can't even turn up past 3 on the volume, so they compensate by turning the gain up and end up with a ball of shite tone that can't cut through and muddys up the rest of the bands sound to boot - I'm not slagging off here, I have learned from this experience myself. Guys out there with great amps that are way too powerful, using shitty overdrive pedals cos they can't turn them up. I went from a a 15 watt Blues junior to amongst others an 80 watt Fender, then a 50 watt Messa Express, 30 watt Orange AD30, and finally the 15 Watt Dark Terror & a 15/30 Watt Duel Terror into 3 12" Orange cabs in stereo. My pedal board consists of a Fuzz, Wah, & Delay, no need for drive or boost pedals, that's what the amps and tubes are for and no pedal comes close.

One more important point - if I walked into a rehearsal space today to jam with a band (especially a metal band) and some guy had a 80 or 100 watt amp set up I'd walk straight back out, ears can be so easily fucked.
