Think they sound great, would go easy on it though, really prone to cracking.

That's what crossed my mind, the structure must be weakened by the holes in em surely?

i reckon it's the sort of thing that would last at most 5 years, even if you treated it as well as it was possible to treat a cymbal

Ha pretty much exactly what people have said here. No matter how well you travel with it etc it'll break I reckon. Beautiful sound like smashing glass and great for instant, massive volume (for grinding perhaps) but be VERY careful with it. As usual it was another fool messing on my drums that cracked it but it was probably going to go, they're paper thin.

Loads of those yokes doing the rounds now though, is there a stronger weight with holes perhaps? Or a DIY job maybe...

On a personal note that is the height of contradiction. Why doesn't anyone take my word for it when I say Meinl is where it's at when it comes to cymbals?

Meinl offers the consistency and agility that other brands lack. Sabian or Ziljidan won't last the distance if you're a hard hitter because Saibian are too dense and Ziljidan are too thin. Paiste are too wafery. My meinls have lasted my the longest and sound really unique, the other brands I mentioned are just characterless over priced and over rated. Other than Meinl the only brand worth mentioning are UFIB

Maybe because your word isn't gospel and people can make up their own minds?
Meinl are well known to break easier than other similar priced cymbals.

I have a mb10 crash and it sounds great but not better than the Sabian AAXplosion I have.
Its a matter of personal taste, there is no best cymbal manufacturer.

In my experience all the Ziljidians Sabians and Paistes I previously owned were nowhere near as robust as my current Meinl collection. As for there being no best cymbal brand or best brand full stop endorsements would contradict that claim

Really? How so? I'd love to hear the rational behind that.

Because any endorser endorses that brand because they believe it to best represent their sound

If they're prone to breaking they're a pointless investment because they're not going to last. Even if they sound good they're only going to be short lived.

So you're saying Meinl are best because they have endorsees? So do just about every other cymbal maker. My knowledge of cymbals is admittedly limited but i'd always considered the "big guns" as it were to be Zildjian, Paiste and Sabian?

And I have to agree with Eliminator in that if the "Blood Sacrifice" recordings on YouTube are anything to go by, your Meinls sound like pot lids

Yes every brand has endorsers but endorsers consider that brand better than any other. Ziljidian Sabian and Paiste are the 3 best known and alleged biggest sellers that does not account for quality.

Never mistake the 3 biggest sellers for a holy trinity.

Leather Mike if your knowledge of cymbals is limited all the more reason why you should trust everything I say
