Former Dio guitarist Vivian Campbell has revealed plans to reboot the original lineup of Dio with new singer Andy Freeman, who he vows will “do justice” to the fallen frontman’s legacy.
He’s confirmed a reunion with original drummer Vinny Appice, bassist Jimmy Bain and keyboardist Claude Schnell, two months after they jammed together.
He says: “I met up with the original Dio band guys again. Now that I’ve brushed up on how to play those solos again, we’re planning to jam some more and plan to do some gigs too".
“Our aim is to do some shows around November, concentrating on the first 3 albums. It’s gonna be great getting back onstage with these guys for the first time in so long.

This would appear pretty fucking crass on the face of it. Curious to see the reaction from the Dio camp. |

I really can't see how he can justify doing it. I wonder if Wendy or Dio's family can step in, from a legal point of view, to stop them playing the songs. But then again with him having played on those first few albums he would own part of the copyright. But I'm rambling now, have to see how it plays out in the coming weeks. |

If that were even a remote possibility, it would be a very dark day for music in general, irrespective of this particular context.
The reason why I said 'on the face of it' was because he must surely know that everyone was aware of his rather public falling out with Dio and perhaps he really isn't that much of an insensitive, obnoxious prick to go ahead without some kind of consent from Wendy Dio. |

Well, I wasn't suggesting that that's what should happen, rather looking at what could possibly unfold from this. |

Yep remember seeing that before....and it's no secret Campbell and Dio hated each other. Don't really see this as anything positive.... |

| You'd assume the others wouldn't be involved if it hadn't gotten a blessing fromt he Dio camp? Appice at least? |

| Well going on what we know I'd find it hard to see DIO give a blessing to Campbell to do anything of the sort.....but then again anything is possible. I wonder what Wendy Dio has to say on the matter.... |
