Definitely get some. I am now suffering with lowered hearing since 4 years ago, after stupidly not wearing earplugs to gigs until two years before my hearing loss. I don't go to so many gigs these days now.
ER-20s are what you need. |

Just thinking this thread pops up pretty often it seems, would it not be worth while making it a "sticky" somewhere? save people posting the same recommendations every few weeks?
Also get folk the answer quicker get those listeners protected and all! |

earplugs not only for gigs but a lot of nightclubs have dangerous sound equipment, unlicensed and with no thought to how damaging soundwaves can be
I generally wear them to sleep one week out of the month to give the haircells in the ear canal a chance to recover from just trains, car traffic, house alarms etc.... tinnitus never goes away but you can gain back some of the lost hearing... had to learn the hard way
as for a sticky, a general musician's health 101 might be a good idea covering hearing, tendonitis, assorted nerve damage, drink issues et al. |

| I always carry a pair now, usually the ER 20s......even shitty foam ones are better than nothing.....if its not too loud i may leave them out,it depends on the gig and venue.....i really can't be bothered now with the ears ringing for days after a gig. |

A few months ago HMV in Limerick had their ER-20's for sale at 2 euro a pair!
Needless to say i bought about 12 pairs.
-and lost them all within about 3 weeks. Ha |

| Ha I still have mine and for over a year now. Got them for 2 euro as well. Used most times when rehearsing. Saved my ears from a couple of the bands I saw in the Blind Pig. |
