Most folks here probably already have this but it's a release I've seen recommended for some years and never owned. With the original vinyl being nigh-on impossible and very expensive to obtain, this re-issue by Shadow Kingdom is extremely welcome. I'd only heard crappy MP3's of it but I'm just blown away every time I listen to it which has been non-stop since it arrived in the post. Brilliant, impossible to pin down Doom with heavy Sabbath and (I think) psychedelic vibes. On some songs I even hear some DOORS influence. The choruses are sing-along-tastic and the sound is totally obscure and dark. GREAT!!

(Sorry if a topic for this already exists...)

That really wouldn't go very well with my reclusive image though would it?

I just got this album yesterday. I'd never heard it before. It is very good. Totally hard to categorise. I honestly haven't heard of anything like it. It's basically heavy/doom metal but with a whole dollop of "other" in it.

Yeah! The "other" is just so hard to define isn't it? It's a fascinating album!

Is it just me, or do some parts even sound like The Cure gone metal? (It might be just me.)

Shocked I really think you're right actually - there is a strong Cure vibe there

Really intrigued by some of the descriptions here, and Shadow Kingdom is usually a mark of quality. Will add this to the shopping list, nice one!

only 1 of that album's trax on youtube. Not bad. There's a fair bit of stuff from Blessed is the Black there alright which is pretty deadly. Can find fuck all info on em online. Plus it appears there was another band of the same name too which doesn't help. Were they around long, get up to much?

Different Coven!

The Coven in this thread only released the album "Worship New Gods" in 1987 and a demo four years later that I haven't heard.

You probably know it already, but for full discographies of pretty much all metal bands you won't get better info than www.metal-archives.com

Classic album for sure!! Wouldn't mind seeing some license it for a vinyl release as the original is a bit pricey.
