It's probably time for a new thread.
What are people's hopes for the new season?
Nothing much has happened on the Sunderland front regarding signings, so I can't really predict how the season will be. A new striker or preferably two are absolutely vital. |

| I hope Southampton stay up. A decent club whose place is in the top flight. |

Fingers crossed Padre, I've enjoyed the premiership the last few years but I miss getting really excited and shouting at the telly.
The club has a class ground in St. Marys with a good fanbase and excellent academy, they've added a lot to top flight football in the decades gone and hopefully will do the same again, learning from the financial mistakes (understatement) that cost them last time around.
Only regret is that there is no Portsmouth around to relegate.
Saints v Cats were always good open affairs.
P.S - I just noticed I said "we signed....." in my last post |

As a Chelsea fan, I hope that we can get back to challenging for the league title again this year (and finish in the top 4 at least). The acquisition of Hazard and Marin (and Oscar, potentially) could provide Torres with some more service which will hopefully get him back to his best, or somewhere near. A lot of talk about Hulk coming into the squad too, but that one seems to be up in the air. I do think we will need another striker of some sort, as Sturridge and Lukaku may not be the most reliable back-ups if Torres' dodgy form persists.
Will be interesting to see if Di Matteo starts to bring through some more of the youth/reserve players, as he did with Bertrand and Hutchinson late last season - the likes of McEachran being potential beneficiaries. And while I certainly wouldn't expect the Champions League to be re-claimed this season, hopefully they can put up a strong defense nonetheless.
As for the EPL and possible winners, a lot could rest on where Van Persie decides to play next season. If he goes to City then that could well be a second title in a row for them. Or if he chooses United, or indeed ends up staying at the Arse, then a more competitive title-race could be on the cards. But then again, City can easily sign another few quality players regardless. The potential loss of Modric will hurt Spurs quite a bit too. Still plenty of transfer 'sagas' to run yet, I guess. |

I doubt He will be a Utd player, Im not too fussed as Utd have enough strikers.Id prefer if they spent the money on midfielders. |

Chelsea are going to win the league hands down, and it sickens me to say it, hating them so much as a result of the knacker fans booing the minutes silence for the 96.
I reckon 4th place will be between Newcastle and Spurs again, Sigurdson (Money Grabbing Cunt) will be a class replacement for Modric if he does go to were ever.
Dont see the point of selling Andy Carroll after his promising finish to the season and good European Championship performance. If we do sell him and dont buy another striker before doing so, we will be raped price wise going in for another player.
Would love to see Gaston Ramirez / Rasmus Elm or Victor Moses for the wings, and would love to see Daniel Sturridge up front with Suarez, but Suarez is probably on the way out now after bringing the Lying bastard Evra case back into the spot light.
Hopefull for LFC's campaign, hopefully a higher finish that 8th and a good run out in the Europa League, defend the Capital One cup and try win the FA cup this time.
In Rodgers we Trust

I'm hoping for a relatively quiet season for Liverpool this season I think we can finish 5th and I'm not fooling myself into thinking we can finish higher. I just hope that Rodgers gets a fair chance and the fans are patient with him and the style that he will try and impose.
In a way I'm glad that we didn't offer Sigurdson more money (if what the papers have said is actually true) as I would rather us spend what we can afford than end up like Leeds or Rangers.
I think Man City will win it again. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens at Chelsea as I think it has 'car crash' written all over it, though I still expect them to make the top 4.
I have a feeling that AVB will do fairly well at Spurs. I can see them surprising a few people this year.
Really curious to see how Michael Laudrup does at Swansea. I think he did fairly well in Spain and signing Michu for a reported €2.5 could be a really good bit of business. |

Who??? If Rooney gets injured United are bollixed!!
Welbeck has about 8-10 goals in him, if even, Hernandez less than that... Macheda, who the fuck knows? Berbatov is gone, and good ridance, great player an all, just didnt suit United.
United need a striker, left back and midfielder! RVP, I wouldnt complain, but it's not gonna happen. Baines would be a great signing, due to the fact that he can produe from set-pieces unlike that joker Nani. Fingers crossed for that one.
For some reason, I can see Chelsea winning the league... I think there signings have huge potential. City and United to dog it out for 2nd. Spurs 4th... Liverpool 5ft... and then a toss up between Newcastle/Everton/Arsenal for 6th!
Reading, Norwich & Wigan to go down! |

Utd could easily go 4-3-3 to compensate Rooney if he went out injured or have Welbeck or Hernandez up top with Young, Kagawa,Nani play off one of them.
I think Welbeck and Hernandez are decent forwards and would only improve with more game time.
Chelsea have bought well but I think City could well win the league next season. Utd will be there about's but not sure if they will win another league title under Fergie. |

Gonna change my predictions for the new season.
1. Manchester City
2. Manchester United
3. Chelsea
4. Tottenham Hotspur
5. Arsenal
18. Reading
19. Wigan
20. Norwich

City to win the league, there strength in depth will be too much for the league. If Chelsea can click they will finish high, but there's still question marks over there defence. United, will be consistent as usual and will compete for the title but will come up short, unless another 1 or 2 top players are bought. Arsenal are in serious trouble, Podolski and Giroud could be deadly or could be another Chamakh, time will tell. Spurs, strong squad, can do well under AVB would will no doubt pick up from where he left off with Porto! Liverpool, I like Rogers, but can he get Liverpool playing like he had Swansea? Doubt it, 2 or 3 loses and the fans will be on his back as usual. I hope I'm wrong, but there has been way to may false dawns at that club, so I'm putting them down as the same old story. |
