Venues Used: Richardsons, Sally Longs, Roisin Dubh, Kellys, The Cellar and more....
Genres: Most types of Hardcore, metal, punk.
E-Mail: usvsthemgalway@yahoo.ie or PM me here.
Notes: Organising gigs in Galway for over 10 years. Used to do way more but due to loads of reasons I'm not doing that many any more. Gigs are quieter, other people are organising gigs as well, metal heads still not coming to heavy gigs.... I don't really do big bands very often. The ones I have done in the past were personal favourites of mine or quick cash makers.
I like to pay bands their costs (petrol, tolls etc) at least which is why I can't always get out of town bands on all bills. I think a bands costs is the very least a promoter should pay a band unless it is specifically agreed otherwise beforehand. If I don't reply to an email/message it could be one of many reasons. Nothing personal. Sometimes I do reply at a later date when circumstances may have changed.
I don't organise gigs for bands with crappy attitudes or shitty ideologies.
I'm also into the whole gig swapping with other similar bands to those I play in.

Great idea!
If everyone posted their info up here to start with, then it could be sorted and compiled properly on it's own page linked from the main menu top-left. OR as a sticky in the gigs section.
I tried something like this on the side-bare for the Irish-Metal Archive blog, but only got as far as some of the main ones to start with. Been meaning to get back to it and flesh it out more.
I also added a list for Irish Labels/Distros and another for recording studios.
Might not be a bad idea to start a somewhat comprehensive list for these too. |

Quote: it could be sorted and compiled properly on it's own page linked from the main menu top-left. OR as a sticky in the gigs section.
I think realistically it needs to be in a Sticky thread in the forum as it needs to be curated (shall we say). There was something like it on the main part of the page once but it became out-dated after a while and pretty much useless.
I’ve added a notes part to each listing to so it’s clear what sort of stuff each promoter does. |

Indeed - things date, and once people are done and move on, noone keeps it properly. However its worth a sticky / section here - somewhere. |

| Just on the topic, also - has everyone seen the new gigs insertion into the front page? Just a handy thing, all suggestions, styling or data comments v welcome. Is it in the right place, could it be improved? |

It's a great idea but the styling could be better. It would be better to go across as rows before columns instead of just columns. It makes the right hand side of the table look very bare indeed. |

| A decent list would be an invaluable resource. Perhaps fire a PM off to the usual promoters here too for any needed info, in case they don't see this thread. |

| I wonder if there are places to play in some of the bigger towns across Ireland? Surely some of these places have some kind of a following for the heavier side of music and Irish bands could get out there to play? |

| Cavan seems to have a bit of a scene. Rory from Eternal Helcaraxe organises the gigs up there. He doesn't post here though, so probably easiest to just contact the band or something. |

| The Spirit Store in Dundalk is a decent gigging venue. They used to always keep the tables an chairs right up to the stage, even if it was metal bands playing, which was awkward, but I don't think they do that anymore. One of the lads from home on here will probably be able to clarify and give better details than me. |

It's a great idea but is sitting kinda awkwardly in the middle. Might be better placed on the right hand side above or below 'Album of the Month'.
